Leverage onchain affordances other than ownership enabling speculationIn the past year, we:1. Launched Words3, an onchain crossword game, on OP Mainnet–the first mainnet deploy of MUD smart contracts2. Open sourced 2 fully onchain games: Ape's Gambit (battle royale chess) and Network States (an RTS)3. Launched an improved Words3 on Base–the first mainnet deploy of MUD v2 smart contracts4. Open sourced a starterkit for mobile onchain games, being used by two known projects5. Worked with other projects (Gaul, Dark Seas, Underverse) building onchain games to playtest within the Small Brain Games community

Impact

1. Bringing new users to OP ChainsWords3 deployments on OP Mainnet and Base both brought hundreds of users to OP Chains. From user interviews, >80% of these users bridged to & made their first transaction on OP chains because of Words3.2. Giving users net new experiences on OP ChainsWe give these new users a net-new experience–that of a fully onchain game! There are community clients, players wrote scripts, and player-made dashboards to track what is happening. 3. Making the OP ecosystem the place for onchain gamesOP chains are becoming the place for new onchain experiences. We contribute to that not only by deploying games to OP chains, but by (1) open sourcing all our code, which leads to others building on OP chains, and (2) building a community of games that'll launch on them.
